*Vegetable Cultivation Offers Good Returns with Horticulture Subsidies*
*Farmers urged to adopt water-efficient practices amid Super El Niño conditions*

District Horticulture Officer Gaddam Shyam Prasad visited various vegetable cultivation fields in Peddapalli Mandal and sensitised farmers about the subsidy schemes and support being provided by the Horticulture Department for vegetable cultivation.
During the field visit, the District Horticulture Officer inspected the vegetable fields of farmer Pudari Chandrashekhar, who is cultivating grafted tomato and brinjal. The crops are yielding well and fetching remunerative prices in the Peddapalli market, resulting in good returns for the farmer.
He also inspected bitter gourd cultivation supported by bamboo poles and explained the subsidies available to farmers. The Horticulture Department is providing a subsidy of ₹10,000 per hectare for support poles, while a subsidy of up to ₹1 lakh per hectare is available for the construction of permanent pandals.
The officer further informed farmers that a subsidy of ₹20,000 per hectare is being provided for mulching sheets. Quality planting material of tomato, chilli, brinjal, cabbage, cauliflower and capsicum is also being supplied free of cost to eligible farmers.
He said farm machinery such as mini tractors and power sprayers required for intercultural operations is being provided with a 50 per cent subsidy.
In view of the prevailing Super El Niño conditions, the District Horticulture Officer advised farmers to adopt water-efficient vegetable cultivation practices and make optimum use of available irrigation resources. He urged farmers to utilise the subsidies and technical support provided by the Horticulture Department to sustain vegetable cultivation, improve productivity and enhance farm income.
Farmers Pudari Chandrashekhar, Ramesh and Srinivas, along with Horticulture Extension Officers B. Ramu and B. Mahesh, participated in the field visit.
