The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has been pushed into a debt trap, and an organisation that once had deposits worth thousands of crores of rupees is now facing financial difficulties, alleged Malkajgiri MP Etela Rajender. He said the company had reached a situation where it was being forced to approach banks even to pay salaries to Singareni workers.
Etela Rajender visited Krishna Nagar in NTPC, under the Ramagundam Assembly constituency in Peddapalli district, on Tuesday. He received a warm welcome from local BJP leaders and party workers. A large number of activists participated in the programme under the leadership of Ramagundam constituency OBC Mahila Morcha president Kandula Sandhyarani and felicitated him with bouquets.
Later, Etela Rajender attended a breakfast hosted at the residence of Venu Moulani and addressed a media conference held there.
Serious Concern Over Singareni’s Financial Position
Etela Rajender alleged that Singareni workers were being subjected to several difficulties by the management. He criticised the functioning of the company, alleging that its open-cast projects had become dominated by contractors.
He urged the government to immediately focus on the welfare of workers, job security and the financial position of Singareni. He demanded that the State government clear the dues payable to Singareni without delay.
He also demanded that the government implement the promises made to Singareni workers and announce their share of the company’s profits.
Etela Rajender cautioned the government to respond to the issues and resolve them before the workers’ dissatisfaction turns into widespread anger.
Promises Made During KCR’s Regime Not Implemented
Etela Rajender criticised the previous government, alleging that several promises made to Singareni workers had not been fully implemented. He alleged that the Congress government, after coming to power, was also continuing the same approach.
Various political parties and workers’ unions have also been raising concerns over Singareni’s financial position, including pending dues, profit-sharing benefits and workers’ welfare.
Farmers Concerned Over Power Supply
Etela Rajender alleged that farmers in the State were not even receiving eight hours of power supply properly. He said that poor-quality power supply was resulting in agricultural motors getting burnt.
He criticised the government, alleging that it was not in a position to resolve the problems being faced by farmers. He further alleged that those in power were more focused on protecting their positions after assuming office.
Set Politics Aside and Provide Irrigation to Farmers
Etela Rajender urged the government to address farmers’ problems without viewing them through a political lens. He demanded that the deficiencies in the Kaleshwaram project be rectified and that water be lifted and supplied to farmers for irrigation.
He alleged that although nearly three years had passed since the Congress government came to power, it had not fully implemented the promises made to the people.
He demanded immediate action by the government on the issues concerning Singareni, power supply and farmers.
BJP leaders, OBC Mahila Morcha representatives, party workers, youth and supporters participated in the programme in large numbers.
