Women’s Team Secures Second Position; South Central Railway Finishes Third in Overall Points Table

Kolkata, September 13 (TTN24 News): South Central Railway (SCR) athletes delivered an impressive performance at the 91st All India Railway Athletics (Men & Women) Championship, held from September 11 to 13, 2026, in Kolkata.

The outstanding performance of SCR sportspersons once again highlighted the zone’s strong sporting culture and its significant contribution to Indian Railways and the national athletics arena.

A total of 20 teams from across Indian Railways participated in the championship, which was organised by the Eastern Railway Sports Association. The prestigious event provided a highly competitive platform for railway athletes to demonstrate their technical skills, consistency and sporting excellence.

Impressive Medal Haul for SCR

SCR athletes produced a commendable medal-winning performance in various events.

Kum. Ankita secured the Silver Medal in the 3000 metres, while Shri Mohammed Tabis won Silver in the Hammer Throw. Kum. Bhuvaneswary Devi bagged Silver in the 800 metres, and Kum. Arpita secured a Bronze Medal in the same event.

In the field events, Shri Abhinav Vaishnav won a Silver Medal in Men’s Discus Throw, while Kum. Kusuma Ravada secured Silver in the Long Jump.

Kum. Pallavi won the Bronze Medal in Women’s High Jump.

The SCR Women’s teams also put up a strong show in relay events, securing the Silver Medal in the Women’s 4×400 metres Relay and the Bronze Medal in the Women’s 4×100 metres Relay.

Women’s Team Finishes Second

The consistent performances by SCR athletes helped the South Central Railway Women’s Team secure second position in the overall championship. South Central Railway also finished third in the overall points table, underlining the depth and quality of its athletics contingent.

The results reflect the dedication, discipline and sustained efforts of SCR sportspersons, coaches and support staff.
