Godavarikhani One-Town Police have cracked the case involving the suspicious death of a young woman within the limits of Godavarikhani One-Town Police Station. According to the police, the woman was allegedly murdered in the backdrop of a relationship and jealousy, and an attempt was made to portray the death as suicide.
The police arrested two persons in connection with the case. The prime accused, Jetti Naveen Kumar (38), works as a contract lecturer at Singareni Collieries Polytechnic College, SCCL, Naspur. The second accused, Bommakanti Ravi Kumar (35), is working as an Overman in the GDK 2 & 2A Incline Mine under the RG-1 area of SCCL.
Relationship that began in 2022
According to the police, Naveen Kumar is married and has two children. He reportedly became acquainted with the young woman in 2022 when she was studying at Singareni Collieries Polytechnic College. Their acquaintance gradually developed into a close relationship, and Naveen Kumar allegedly intended to take the relationship towards marriage.
The woman later completed her diploma and joined a B.Tech Mining course at Osmania University in Hyderabad. During her training in Godavarikhani, she became acquainted with Ravi Kumar. According to the investigation, Naveen Kumar became angry after noticing that the woman was distancing herself from him and becoming close to Ravi Kumar.
Murder allegedly planned in advance
The police said that Naveen Kumar allegedly decided in advance to kill the woman. On September 12, 2026, he reportedly collected insecticide from a friend’s house, filled it into a water bottle and kept it in his Ford EcoSport car.
Later that evening, after the woman finished her duties and was travelling in an auto, Naveen Kumar allegedly picked her up near the FCI Cross Roads in his car. He then drove her through areas around NTPC, FCI and IOC while arguing with her, according to the police.
The police alleged that Naveen Kumar forced the woman to write a suicide note stating that she was taking the extreme step because Ravi Kumar had sexually assaulted her. He allegedly photographed the note using her mobile phone. The police further alleged that Naveen Kumar subsequently forced the insecticide into the woman’s mouth.
Delay in providing medical assistance
After consuming the insecticide, the woman reportedly became unconscious inside the car. Instead of immediately taking her to hospital, Naveen Kumar allegedly drove around different areas for some time, resulting in a delay in providing medical assistance, the police said.
According to the investigation, he later used the woman’s mobile phone to call her father and allegedly tried to make the family believe that she had committed suicide.
At around 7:30 to 7:45 p.m., he reportedly took the woman to her residence. He then took her parents along in the same car and proceeded to the Government Hospital. After reaching the hospital, Naveen Kumar allegedly left the place. The woman died the following day while undergoing treatment.
Alleged attempt to destroy evidence
The police said that after the woman’s death, Naveen Kumar allegedly feared that the actual circumstances would come to light. He reportedly washed the car and removed or destroyed material that could have served as evidence, including the alleged suicide note, the insecticide bottle and mobile phone SIM cards.
He subsequently travelled to Hyderabad, according to the police investigation.
Technical evidence helps crack case
Following directions from the Ramagundam Police Commissioner and under the supervision of the Peddapalli DCP, a detailed investigation was taken up under the leadership of Godavarikhani ACP M. Ramesh.
Police examined CCTV footage, call data, call recordings and other technical evidence to trace the movements of the accused. Based on the evidence gathered during the investigation, the police identified and apprehended the accused persons.
Naveen Kumar was taken into custody in the Godavarikhani Bridge–Ganganagar area, while Ravi Kumar was apprehended near OCP-05 Mine.
Car, mobile phones and tablet seized
Police seized the Ford EcoSport car allegedly used in the crime, two mobile phones and a tablet from the accused.
The police said further investigation is underway into allegations against Ravi Kumar, including the allegation that he had sexual relations with the woman against her will during the period when she had come to Godavarikhani for training.
Police are also examining the representation reportedly submitted by the deceased woman to SCCL authorities, the action taken on the representation and allegations regarding negligence by the concerned authorities.
The police said further investigation is continuing based on the evidence collected so far.
