Stay Alert Against Cyber Frauds, Avoid Sharing Personal Details on Social Media: CP Amber Kishore Jha.

Ramagundam Police Commissioner Amber Kishore Jha has urged people to remain vigilant against cyber crimes and advised young people to use social media platforms responsibly and cautiously. He warned that sharing personal information on social media could provide cyber criminals with an opportunity to misuse such details.

 

As part of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month being observed in October 2026 under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, cyber security awareness programmes are being conducted across Telangana under the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau. The campaign is being organised with the slogan “PAUSE FOR SAFETY – Pause. Think. Verify.”

 

As part of Cyber Jaagrookta Diwas, observed on the first Wednesday of every month, a cyber security awareness programme was conducted for students at the Government Degree College in Mancherial on Wednesday. The programme was organised by the Mancherial Zone of the Ramagundam Police Commissionerate, Mancherial Town Police, Ramagundam Cyber Crime Police and the Cyber Crime Police Station.

 

Ramagundam Police Commissioner Amber Kishore Jha and Mancherial DCP A. Bhaskar attended the programme as chief guests.

 

Addressing the students, Commissioner Amber Kishore Jha said that young people are increasingly using social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. He advised them not to publicly share sensitive information such as personal details, family information, photographs and financial details.

 

He said cyber criminals are using advanced technology to collect personal information and exploit it for fraudulent activities. He also urged students to create awareness about cyber security among their parents and family members.

 

The Commissioner cautioned people against sharing OTPs, PINs, passwords, bank account details or other personal information with anyone. He said that if anyone contacts them claiming to be calling for farmer registration, a urea-related app download or other similar services and asks for an OTP, bank details or personal information, they should immediately remain alert.

 

He advised people not to respond hastily to suspicious phone calls, messages, links or applications and to follow the principle of “Pause. Think. Verify.” He also warned the public not to click on unknown links or download suspicious applications.

Cyber criminals may target innocent people not only for financial fraud but also to cause trouble through other forms of cybercrime, he said. The Commissioner urged anyone who falls victim to a cyber fraud, or notices a suspicious financial transaction, to immediately call the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 and report the incident.

 

Commissioner Jha emphasised that public awareness and cooperation, along with police action, are crucial in preventing cyber crimes. He encouraged students to follow cyber security precautions themselves and spread awareness among their parents, family members and friends.

 

As part of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month campaign, Commissioner Amber Kishore Jha, along with other police officials, unveiled a cyber security awareness poster carrying the slogan “PAUSE FOR SAFETY – Pause. Think. Verify.”

Mancherial ACP R. Prakash, Cyber Crime Police Station ACP D. V. Ranga Reddy, Mancherial Town Inspector Pramod Rao, Ramagundam Cyber Crime Inspector Srinivas and other cyber crime personnel participated in the programme.
